Packing Up My Kit

Beirut, Entertaining

IMG_0466Another cooking class party tonight, this time at Chef Exchange, the online platform that I’m part of that matches foodie clients with chefs in their cities. I’ve got six ladies coming together to celebrate a birthday in the kitchen together and I’m about to head out the door (things get started quite late here in Lebanon). Packing up my kit and making certain I have every ingredient I will need is a crucial part of any gig (cheffing takes an incongruous personality mix of creativity and anal retentiveness, I often joke). Tonight I’m particularly excited because I’m getting to use the gorgeous new leather knife bag my father gave me for Christmas. Isn’t it a dream? Here’s what we’ll be cooking tonight:

Parmesan Poppy Seed Crackers**
Corn Parmesan Budino
Garlic Rubbed Skirt Steak with Green Onion Vinaigrette
New Potatoes with Capers, Lemon, and Pink Peppercorns
Sauteed Haricots Verts
Double Chocolate Cake with Coffee French Buttercream**

** Indicates I made in advance, the girls will assemble and decorate the cake together and hopefully the crackers will serve as a welcome snack!

Just some of my ingredients for tonight

  1. You just knock me out! You are incredible and so talented. Hope you have fun and the women love working with you–which I know they will. Love the new knife bag. Really gorgeous and has to make carrying your knives so much easier and safer. Really miss getting to see and talk with you. Missing your long posts but loving your daily posts! Thank you for keeping this up for all your fans and people who love and admire you and your work.

    1. Thank you Sandee! It’s always so nice to hear from you and know I have your support. We had a great time last night cooking together….It’s such fun meeting new people who enjoy cooking.

  2. On the road from Düsseldorf and enjoying this very much! You are inspiring, Sal. When I feel uninspired in the kitchen I reread your posts, make a shopping list and cycle to a market or store with my proper basket. Thank you, thank you and thank you. Continued success!
